The Burren & Cliffs of Moher (Duration 5 hours)
Travel from
Galway City through Oranmore, Clarinbridge famous for its
oysters, on to Kilcolgan and Kinvara (fishing village) also
Dunguaire Castle 1520. We then move onto Corcomroe Abbey -
a Cistercian Abbey at Bell Harbour - this takes us to Ballyvaughan
and Burren Country - a unique Barren landscape witch originated
from the ice age, famous for its wild flowers and rare plants
in Ballyvaughan visit the Burren Exposure an exhibition on
the formation and profile of the Burren (30 Min duration).
Through Ballyvaughan we visit the Aillwee
Cave - The Burren Underworld (Guided Tour) takes you through
the beautiful caverns, over bridged chasms and its beautiful
underwater formations, see the waterfall spray its waters.
An essential part of any tour to the Burren. Open
daily, mid-Mar to early Nov 10:00am to 5:30pm.
After the Allwee Caves visit Poulnabrone Dolmen 4000BC.
An ancient burial chamber and fort rings.
Then onto Leamanch Castle (in ruins an awesome inspiring
site from 1480. former home of the Ó Brien Chieftains.
Then into Lisdoonvarna visit the "Spa
Wells" famous for its sulphur baths, from there visit
the "Cliffs of Moher" and
the O Brien Tower a spectacular range of a sheer rock 700ft
standing up right onto the Atlantic Ocean. Return by Doolin
Village (famous for Irish Music) and travel along the Atlantic
Ocean by "Black Head" and return to Galway. |
