Tour 3 - Clifden and Sky - Road

Clifden is the largest town in
Connemara, and viewed as the
region's capital. Founded at the start
of the 19th century by local landlord
and sheriff John D'Arcy.
Proceed from
Galway City to Moycullen visit the
(marble factory) on to
Oughterard visit Aughnaanura Castle
1500, home of the O'Flaherty Chieftains.
Travel along to visit the Glen Gowla
Mines (silver and lead mine guide tour).
Then on to the Quite Man bridge. Travel
along by Maam Cross visit the "Quite Man
Cottage" then along by the "MaamTurk
Mountains" and the "Twelve Bens".

Travel along to the
Balinahinch fishery (salmon fishing), visit Dan
Ó Hara (pre famine farm) and then onto Clifden
(capital of Connemara) renowned for its craft
shops - famous fish restaurants and pubs - with
traditional music.
See the magic of the Sky Road,
travel into the mountains and see the Wild
Atlantic Ocean from a high, (on a clear day you
can see America almost).
Then onto the Alcock and Brown
Memorial, site of the first transatlantic flight
this take you through some of Connemara's most
beautiful scenery, onto Gurteen Beaches "Dogs
Bay" with its miles of Golden Beaches. Proceed
through Roundstone (a fishing & Craft village).
Remaining on the coast road through Cashel
village and returning to Galway City.
